September 2008 Ministry Update

Celebrating God's Goodness In Bad Times

1 Peter 2:12

We consider experiencing bad times in the Philippines today, with the Muslim uprising in Mindanao, continuous price hike, peso devaluation, mass unemployment and many more. But thank God that we can still experience His goodness in such a time as these. The best of God’s goodness is the joy, peace and contentment, our lasting legacy that He puts in our hearts that we could bring it anywhere we go and in whatever circumstance we are in. Then we praise God that in bad times we have more opportunities of sharing the gospel. People are more receptive to the Word of God, the reason why our churches continue to grow.

Our celebration of God’s goodness did come alive last August 31, our second church anniversary for the Southern Baptist Church of Tagbilaran and August 19, first church anniversary for the church in Nan-od, Sierra Bullones. Both churches had simple but joyous and meaningful commemoration of how the Lord continues to work with us in the redemption of souls. Thank God we are chosen and enabled for this ministry.

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Phil. 1:3-6

Let Your Requests Be Known...

  1. Pray for our safety as we travel to Mindanao, Davao City on September 29 through October 10. Pastor Gamie is one of the speakers of Southern Philippines Baptist Seminary Foundation Day on October 1. Pray also that we can be a blessing as we visit friends, relatives, and churches.
  2. Pastor Gamie is presently visiting Nan-od Church. Please pray for God’s anointing as they serve the feeding program, discipleship training, and do some building upkeep.
  3. Help us pray for the right pastor for Tagbilaran City, as Pastor Gamie and Ate Millie will concentrate in starting and helping new churches and the training of workers.
  4. Please pray for our young people: Noreen, Charity, En-en and Frankie who are applying for a job abroad.
  5. Pray for my youngest son, Junjun, in organizing a concert/musical show in Cebu this semester.
  6. Please pray for God’s protection of our daughter, Dorina May, in Cambodia.
  7. Help us to ask God to provide for the flooring and ceiling of our meeting place.
When it rains, the dirt floor is flooded and the tent needs ceiling to protect from excessive heat. Help us pray for God’s provision.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
