October 2008 Ministry Update
Fruitful Week In Davao City
For more than a decade, we have not visited Davao City. It is the place where Millie and Pastor Gamie were trained and developed for His service. But the Lord knows our inner longings. He allowed us to come at the seminary’s expense because Gamie was invited as guest speaker of Southern Philippines Baptist Theological Seminary (SPBTS) 53rd Foundation Day last October 1.

So we came, we saw (the seminary’s condition and Davao) and we are also conquered by God’s challenging message that we brought, derived from the anniversary's theme “To the Glory of God…Excellent Faith, Conduct and Service”. The message was really intended not only to the seminary but the most is for us. The Lord has spoken in our hearts as we are starting a pioneering work in Bohol, excellence should be the standard and that is what we are aspiring for in which only the grace of God could make it happen.

We also had reunion with friends, fellow alumni, relatives, and loved ones. What a break!
A Couple Opens a New Outreach in Bilar, Bohol
Luz and Simplicio Dapar |
“Go home and tell what the Lord has done” was the mandate Brother Simplicio and Luz Dapar have received from the Lord while faithfully serving the church in Tagbilaran, Brother Plecio as guitarist and driver and Sister Luz as Sunday School teacher. They felt the burden to reach out to their relatives in the interior town called Bilar. This is God’s answer as we are praying for more workers. There will be a schedule of baptism on October 19.
SBCT Post-Anniversary Fellowship
Enjoying a hearty meal and a warm fellowship are the members of The Southern Baptist Church of Tagbilaran choir who re-gathered after the anniversary celebration for evaluation.
Nan-od Church At A Glance
The church has her own building. |
The church in Nan-od is already worshiping in their own building since August 2007, though the lot is still rented. Pastor Aaron is the pastor since April 2006 and a local convert name Leonardo Beldoro or Brother Ondoy is also trained to lead the Church. So we gradually turn over the leadership to the local people in order to be able to reach out to other places also. As pastor Gamie will be supervising the outreaches and daughter churches Tagbilaran City will soon need a full time minister.
